Hello, my name is Lisa Collymore.

I am the Branch Manager responsible for our Bridgetown location.

My job is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the branch and ensure that all our members have the best experience when they engage with our Credit Union.

  • Our headquarters located on Fairchild Street was the former headquarters of the Barbados Workers Union before they moved to Harmony Hall, St. Michael.

  • The Fairchild Street branch is the first for AffinityPlus Credit Union (formerly the BWU Credit Union and was opened on Tuesday, June 21, 1983.

  • National Hero and Trade Unionist Frank Walcott used the balcony on the Walcott Brooks building for some of his memorable speeches to the masses.

Key Facts About Bridgetown

  • Bridgetown is a designated UNESCO World Heritage site, with its historical architecture dating back to the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.

  • Bridgetown was previously known as the “Indian Bridge” because of a crude bridge built by indigenous settlers that crossed the careenage. Bridgetown was also called the Town of St. Michael in official documents.

  • In 1666, the entire city of Bridgetown was destroyed by a fire. The then House of Assembly ordered all buildings to be built of stone during the reconstruction.

  • Bridgetown is home to the oldest surviving screw dock in the world & one of the oldest synagogues in the western hemisphere.

  • Fairchild Street was a bustling spot for vendors to sell produce in the 20th century. A newly built Fairchild Street Market was recently constructed to revitalize the vendor’s market culture in Fairchild Street.
