  • Oistins has its annual Fish Festival during the Easter Weekend. The festival celebrates the fishing industry and culture of the town. There are many elements of the festival to enjoy, from the food & craft stalls to cultural competitions like the grease pole and fishing boning competition.

  • The Parliament of Barbados was formed in Oistins in 1639

  • The Charter of Barbados was signed at Oistins in 1652. This charter gave the Barbados colonists special rights, which were unique at that time. The colonists were allowed to self-rule, permitting them to control their land ownership laws, trade affairs and taxation.
